The Parish Council's headquarters is the The Reading Room, which is situated in the centre of the village and is also available to hire for functions. The village stands approx. 2 miles outside the town of Grantham, on the A52 road travelling north to Nottingham.

Barrowby, one of the largest villages in the district of South Kesteven, has a population of around 2,000. There is a Primary school, a church, 'Dougie's' coffee shop, Memorial Hall, allotments, The White Swan pub, Forest School, Yoga, Antenatal, Mother and baby, Bridge club, Scouts and Guides, and many other activities which are available in the village.

Sport is also popular, boasting very strong junior and senior football clubs plus a cricket team.
