About Us

Our plots are at the Barrowby allotments on The Drift Barrowby. The site is owned by Barrowby Parish Council and run by the Barrowby Gardeners' Association.

Our members grow a wide variety of fruit and vegetable produce for their own use,  and if we have excess we ask for donations at our allotment shop on a Saturday morning between 10-12.

The allotments are run by a dedicated committee of plot holders on behalf of Barrowby Parish Council.

The Plots

There are 51 plots of 10 rods or 250 square metres each. All the plots are currently occupied with a waiting list open to parish residents as a priority. Any plots that are to be given up are vacated at the end of the year but some may become available as the season progresses.

We currently have a waiting list and priority is given to residents of Barrowby Parish, existing plot holders and, if plots are still available, then we may offer to those on the waiting list outside of Barrowby Parish.

We initially rent out half plots for an annual fee. This includes plot rental, membership of the Barrowby Gardeners Association and of the National Allotment Society, public liability insurance and water.

We welcome people who are new to vegetable gardening and offer advice, tips and spare plants.  Application forms can be downloaded here: Barrowby Gardeners' Association - Apply

Associate Membership

We run an active Associate Membership scheme, offering all Associate members discounts on seeds and gardening sundries via the allotment shop and the opportunity to take part in social activities and the Annual Village Flower and Vegetable Show. We also have one Associate Member on the BGA committee. Check the monthly Barrowby News to see when we have special tips and bargains during the growing season for our members.

Associate Membership costs £5.00 for the first year and £3.00 per year thereafter. If you are interested in becoming an Associate Member contact us via the allotment shop or via the BGA Secretary: bgasecretary70@gmail.com
