Wheelie Bin

Your bin collection days will be changing! The week beginning: 15th September Barrowby Bin Collection days will be Thursday (Green bin) and Friday (Other bins).

Bin Collection

South Kesteven District Council is about to change all bin and sack collection rounds to create more efficient and straightforward routes.

It is the first large-scale change for 12 years and will affect all households in some way, either to the collection day or to the time that household waste and recycling is collected.

The new collections start the week commencing Monday 15th September.

For full details of which week your various waste and recycling will be collected, please refer to the calendar and postcode checker at www.southkesteven.gov.uk/binday

If the day has not changed, please note the time that your bin will be emptied may have done so. Therefore, please ensure your bin – or sacks for those who do not have wheelie bins – are placed at the kerbside of your property before 7.30am on the day of collection.

Some Frequently Asked Questions are also enclosed and are available online at www.southkesteven.gov.uk/binsupdate.

Why are my bin and sack collection days changing?
• As the number of households increase, we need to make changes to help us pick up all 81,000 bins each week.
• Changing bin collection days means we can introduce more efficient collection rounds
When will the new bin and sack collection schedule begin?
• The new collection arrangements start the week commencing 15th September 2025.

How will I find out what my new collection schedule is?
• We will add a postcode look-up to the website and provide an updated collection calendar.
Will all my bins (green, silver, purple lidded, black and sacks) be collected on different days to the ones I have currently?
• We expect almost everyone’s bin collections to change. Your collections may happen on a different day, or at a different time to the ones you have now.

Will my bins/sacks still be collected as they are now?
• Your bins/sacks will still be collected every week. They will follow the same order that is in place now: Black (general waste) – Silver for dry, clean recycling – Black (general waste) – Purple-lid paper and card – Black again; with sacks on their current schedule too.

I pay for a green garden waste bin. Will the collection day change for this too?
• Yes, however the frequency will remain the same.

What happens if I put my bin /sack out on the wrong day?
• If your new day is later in the week than it is now, your bin/sack will be collected on your new collection day.
• Additional support will be in-place for the first few weeks to help you during this period. We encourage residents to contact us if they are confused about the new day.

Are you going to be fining/tagging/reporting bins/sacks that are put out on the wrong day?
• No. we know it will take some time to get used to the new schedule and will work with all customers to ensure these changes are introduced carefully.
