Barrowby Neighbourhood Plan – Public Consultation Now Open (Regulation 16)

South Kesteven District Council (SKDC) has opened the formal public consultation (Regulation 16) on the Barrowby Neighbourhood Plan – Submission Version.

The Neighbourhood Plan has been produced by the Barrowby Neighbourhood Plan Steering Group in consultation with residents, businesses, landowners and other stakeholder organisations. It covers the whole of Barrowby Parish and seeks to guide future development in the parish up to 2040, setting out a vision, objectives and a series of neighbourhood-wide policies.

Barrowby Parish Council submitted its proposed Neighbourhood Development Plan and supporting evidence to SKDC on 19 September 2025. SKDC has completed an initial assessment and is satisfied the Plan and supporting documents comply with the specified criteria, and has therefore published the Plan for public consultation ahead of independent examination.

Consultation period

The public consultation runs from Thursday 29 January to Friday 13 March 2026.

Deadline: 11:59pm on 13 March 2026

What happens next?

Once the consultation period has closed, SKDC will appoint a qualified, independent examiner to review the Neighbourhood Plan. All comments received during the consultation will be forwarded to the examiner alongside the Plan and supporting documents.

The examiner will produce a report with recommendations. SKDC will then decide whether the Plan should proceed to a referendum (with or without modifications). If a referendum is held and more than 50% of those voting support the Plan, SKDC must adopt the Neighbourhood Plan as soon as possible.
